| Mayland Aerial Photography was started in 1990 by Ron Mayland to fill a need for aerial photography in the Eastern Iowa area. Since then coverage has expanded to include all of Iowa, all surrounding states, and assignment photography just about anywhere. He has traveled thousands of miles, accumulated thousands of flight hours, and taken thousands of photographs. Chances are if the sun is shining, he's flying somewhere.
Ron holds a Commercial Pilot license with an Instrument Rating and Advanced Ground Instructor rating. He is a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Professional Aerial Photographers Association International, Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, and Cedar Rapids Priority One.
Images are made using the latest in digital camera technology. A Canon 5D -12.8 megapixel camera is used for most assignments. For applications requiring film, a Pentax 6 x 7 medium format camera is used. And in the case of failure, Ron is prepared with backup cameras. All offer high quality, high resolution images with excellent reproduction and enlargement characterisitics.
Ron owns a Cessna airplane. This serves as an excellent platform for taking unobstructed aerial photographs. Owning his own airplane allows for quicker response time and the ability to take advantage of good weather opportunities. It also means a lower overall cost to you.
For those assignments that may be outside his area, Ron is a member of PAPA - Professional Aerial Photographers Association International. As a member, Ron has access to some of the most talented photographers in the world.
